No More Instant Supers for Titans!

Destiny 2 saw a small patch on Tuesday afternoon, designed to fix some long-broken Exotics and an XP bug. Bungie also gave an update on the bugged “The Lie” quest, where players will eventually earn the returning Felwinter’s Lie shotgun.

To be clear, the latest patch does not fix the quest. According to one of Bungie’s Community Managers, Bungie planned this hotfix before the Felwinter’s Lie bug occurred, and the team at Bungie is still working on a fix for the new quest.

Hotfix 2.8.1.2 fixes some annoying issues in Destiny 2. The troublesome Wormgod Caress Titan gauntlets and Winter’s Guile Warlock gauntlets can no longer stack their respective buffs longer than intended — which should prevent some other weird bugs from occurring. The Grasp of the Warmind mod also has some changes, which prevent it from accidentally granting Titans their Super in under 10 seconds. The studio also fixed a small XP bug.

While these problems have been plaguing the game for weeks, many players are more interested in what’s happening with the bugged “The Lie” quest.

On May 12, players embarked on a quest to unlock a beloved shotgun from the original Destiny, Felwinter’s Lie. But Bungie gated the quest behind 9,000,000 community public events. After slow progress, the studio quickly added a multiplier to public event completions, and players managed to complete them late Sunday night. But after players completed several more steps in the quest, they discovered the final mission has a progress-breaking bug, and nobody can load into the mission properly.

Since Sunday, Bungie has had two pre-scheduled maintenance periods — one for the API on Monday, and this minor hotfix on Tuesday. While Bungie planned both patches long before “The Lie” broke, Destiny’s Community Managers have had to remind players that Tuesday’s patch and Monday’s maintenance would not fix “The Lie.”

Bungie Help | Update

While this patch doesn’t address the problem, Bungie Help tweeted on Monday that developers have discovered the problem causing “The Lie” to bug. However, the team still needs to find a fix, test that fix, verify it, and then certify a hotfix release. Once those steps are complete, players should be able to finish “The Lie.”

It’s currently unclear if this is a problem Bungie can solve by the end of the week, or if players will need to wait a week or more to finish this quest.
